A new career in Digital
Benoît has been Project Director at Micropole, Talan Group, for two years now. His background is rather atypical. After studying English to become a school teacher, he taught for three years. He then decided to change direction and obtained a degree in management, before starting his career in the digital sector. Watch his video below.
A career in digital with web agencies
Before joining Micropole's digital teams, he worked for ten years in different web agencies, in various positions and responsibilities. Benoît joined Micropole two years ago, during which time he worked within the client teams, on a project to manage a Digital Factory.
The two main missions of a Project Manager
As Project Director, Benoît has two main missions. The first is managerial. As Project Director, the human dimension is very important, whether it's coordinating teams or monitoring projects.
The second is more focused on project management, with crucial issues of schedule adherence, budget monitoring and quality management.
These two aspects form the core of our business, to which we add a third dimension: setting up and running processes, and managing the challenges inherent in project management.
The major challenges facing a Project Director
For Benoît, one of today's major challenges, particularly in the era of remote working and hybrid environments, is the human dimension. Several factors make collaborative work more complex, from geographical distance to the roles of each party (employees, customers, freelancers, etc.). To make collaboration easier and more effective, the key is to set a common goal and maintain communication to achieve it.
Exciting e-commerce projects
The project Benoît is most proud of is the one he led as delivery manager for a majorindustrial player, responsible for coordinating its e-commerce sites. This project involved managing some fifty people in a service center, with the task of maintaining and updating the various sites. He points out that, in the e-commerce field, the stakes are particularly sensitive and strategic.
The qualities of a good project manager: rigor, empathy and proactivity
For Benoît, the qualities of a good project manager are rigor, empathy and proactivity. Thoroughness is essential to ensure that projects are followed through, on time and on budget. Empathy is also crucial, as the human dimension is omnipresent, and he believes that without empathy, there can be no mutually beneficial and effective collaboration. Finally, proactivity is important, to question, optimize and seek to improve processes.
Fostering collaboration: transparency and listening
To foster effective collaboration within a team, Benoît emphasizes two essential values: transparency and listening, which echo the company's values. Without these two elements, there can be no trust, and therefore no healthy, productive collaboration.
