A leading player in medical diagnostics modernizes its data management
A leader in medical diagnostics and microbiological analysis, our customer embarked on an ambitious data management transformation in early 2024. The aim? Replace its existing Data Integration tool with a modern, high-performance platform capable of meeting current and future needs. Micropole, in partnership with the software publisher Informaticawas selected to lead this strategic project.
Context
Faced with the rapid evolution of its sector, the customer identified the need to adopt a new Data Integration platform. The aim of this transition was not only to replace the existing tool, but also to add advanced functionalities, such as interfacing with existing and future systems, like cloud hosting, CRM or ERP tools.
Micropole, thanks to its expertise in data management and governance and its strategic partnership with Informatica, was chosen to support this transformation. Together, they deployed the IDMC (Intelligent Data Management Cloud) solution, an innovative AI-powered platform.
Issues
In a sector as demanding as medical diagnostics, data management plays a crucial role in sustaining growth and remaining competitive. The customer faced several major challenges requiring a robust, forward-looking solution.
- Agility: the company wanted to modernize its data integration capabilities to improve strategic and operational decision-making. This involved implementing a platform capable of handling constantly updated data, and supporting various integration models (ETL, ELT, CDC, etc.).
- Scalability : the company needed a scalable platform capable of integrating seamlessly with its existing IT architecture, while being adaptable to future changes in its information system. This compatibility was essential to secure technological investments and meet the organization's growing needs.
- Innovation : leveraging advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), the customer wanted to automate and optimize data integration processes. In addition, the use of the cloud was to enable seamless adoption of new technologies, guaranteeing an infrastructure that was always at the cutting edge of innovation.
Solutions
To meet these complex challenges, Micropole implemented a methodical, customized approach in collaboration with Informatica, based on the vendor's IDMC (Intelligent Data Management Cloud) solution.
- Installation and configuration of the IDMC solution: Micropole's experts set up a fully secure environment, including user management, rights management, version control and connectors for interfacing with existing systems. Pilot workflows were developed to validate technical choices and demonstrate the effectiveness of the solution.
- Audit and migration strategy: this stage laid the solid foundations for the project. Micropole analyzed the existing infrastructure, studied the tool assets of the existing Datastage solution, and classified the flow typologies to be migrated. This step enabled us to rationalize priorities, identify areas for improvement beyond simple technical migration, and devise a clear strategy for each category of flow.
- Scoping: this phase was carried out to align the solution with the customer's specific needs. The teams worked to define a customized target architecture, taking into account both technical and strategic objectives. At the same time, training courses were organized to transfer the necessary skills to in-house teams, thus accompanying the change and facilitating adoption of the new platform.
