Data Governance

Within the current context of economic slowdown and cycle acceleration, companies must constantly optimize their productivity and operational efficiency. Poor quality master data (customer, product, supplier, structure …), will have a direct impact on corporate competitiveness, efficiency and reactiveness.

These data shared between different countries, subsidiaries or business lines, fuel the process and constitute an asset and an essential capital for the organization. The absence of unified and controlled management could have serious consequences on the mastery of operational risks.

The alignment of corporate architecture to the commercial strategy is a critical stake today for all companies. To be able to reflect the corporate strategy, the information system must be agile and structured. Rather than be a brake, it should be a vehicle for innovation, enabling benefits from Big Data stakes and Cloud approaches.

The mission of the CNRS, a public body undertaking research in all scientific, technological and societal areas, is to produce knowledge and to put this at the service of society. With over 34 000 collaborators and establishments nationally, the CNRS is naturally confronted with a need for overall cross-cutting consistency throughout its entire structure. In the context of its IS urbanization, and with the aim of simplifying its Master Data management while improving its data quality and facilitating communication both within and outside of its IS, the CNRS wished to implement an MDM base enabling long-term multiple repository hosting.

«This project is important in the context of our IS urbanization approach. It includes an architectural part, with the setting-up of a shared IS space specialized in repository management, and also a business governance repository section to ensure consistency and agility in the face of business developments.  We chose to be partnered by Micropole, because of its expertise in MDM project implementation».

Jean-Marc Voltini, Director CNRS IS Management.

The brief of the National Cancer Institute (INCa), a state health and life sciences agency created in 2004, is to ensure precise and steady follow-up on the Cancer plan, with the collection and reporting of all data on the subject. To do this under the best conditions, INCa needs to equip itself with an integrated follow-up, analysis and decision –support system. The undertaking: to create a data warehouse within the decision-support information system, implement the flow management via EDI for optimal utilization and develop a tool for project management (PPM). The cancer data portal, integrated with the site, is put on-line, with the goal of providing indicators from the decision-support system thanks to multi-criteria search engines to inform the general public as well as health professionals.

«We are truly satisfied with our collaboration with Micropole. Thanks to them, we have been able to show ourselves to be very reactive. »

Djamel Chaabane, Inca IS Director.
